I did this piece for myself. I love and revere the symbolism of Saint Mary and her representation of feminine strength and motherhood. But I wanted to add Imagination as a facet of her being in the form of the seraphic dragon. He is blowing the fire of magic onto her hands so that she blesses all that she touches.
I used crushed gemstone and iridescent paints to make her glow. She is embellished with genuine 24k gold, sterling silver and copper leaf as well as genuine garnets, a genuine sapphire and a genuine moonstone as well as real Swarovski crystals.
The painting continues around each edge - giving it a 3D effect. If you watch this Madonna - her eyes will follow you!
